How To Drive Insane Website Traffic From A New Pinterest Account With No Followers
The truth is, you can drive an insane amount of website traffic from a new Pinterest account with no followers to your blog or website. And I’m going to tell you how, in this article.
Search traffic from Google and other search engines are a bit hard to come by these days, and even harder to sustain over a long period of time due to their sometimes shady algorithm updates that are hard to keep up with. That’s why most people especially new creators turn to social media for traffic.
And one of the best social media platforms you can use to drive traffic to your blog or website is Pinterest.
When it comes to driving traffic to a new blog or website, Pinterest is by far the best platform to do so.
Pinterest is not just a social media platform. It’s also an image search engine. It works like Google, but much more differently, with a different algorithm. It’s an image search engine, but unlike Google, it’s also a social platform. People can follow you or your account.
And the more people follow your account, the more your audience grows and the more traffic you’re able to drive to your blog or website.
If you’re just starting out on Pinterest though, and you want to grow your website traffic using the platform, it’s a bit more tricky because you have no followers. You have no audience yet. You are new to the platform. People don’t know you yet.
But that’s why I love Pinterest. Whether you have followers or not, you can still use a new Pinterest account to drive insane traffic to your website.
The reason is, you can go viral on Pinterest even with your first pin, depending on what your pin is about, how optimized it is for pinterest SEO, and how people respond to it, right off the bat.
Some part of the whole process, you can control, while the other part is left for the Pinterest algorithm.
Does followers matter on Pinterest?
I believe followers matter on every social media platform where users can be followed or subscribed to by other users.
Because when users follow a certain account, they’re telling the platform that they like that account, they like the content in that account, and they want to always see the content posted or published by that account.
That’s exactly what it means to follow a particular account. If you follow a particular account on any social media platform, it means you always want to see content published by that account.
So, followers do matter on Pinterest.
However, the beautiful thing about Pinterest is that you don’t really need any followers for your Pin to go viral. A viral Pinterest Pin requires zero(0) followers.
Even though your account is pretty new and you have no followers yet, when you publish pins on Pinterest, Pinterest displays that pin to a few users depending on how you optimized the pin, such as the kind of image in the pin, the pin title, the description, the board the pin is under and so on.
What really determines whether that pin goes viral and drives Pinterest traffic to your website or not is how the first few people responds to your pin.
If the first few people Pinterest shows your pin to immediately starts saving the pin, that will tell the Pinterest algorithm that people like your pin, and that they should show it to more people.
And the more people they show it to, the more people save that particular pin, the more Pinterest shows it to more and more people. And the more that happens, the more people click through to your website, and the more Pinterest traffic you get to your website.
So, it’s really more about how people respond to your pin, than whether or not you have followers or not.
The real question now is,
What do you do to grow website traffic with a new Pinterest account?
Here are the steps you need to take.
Convert your Pinterest account to a business account
When you create a new Pinterest account, it’s just a personal account. You can’t add a website or anything, and you don’t have most of the business tools that comes with a professional Pinterest business account.
So, the first thing you want to do, is to convert that personal account you created for your blog into a Business account.
And it’s pretty straightforward to do. Just go under “Settings” in your Pinterest dashboard, and you’ll find a link to convert your account to a business account.
Once you do that, you’ll have all the business tools you need to fully promote your website/blog on Pinterest, so that you can drive website traffic to your business.
Here’s one more thing. When you convert your personal account to a business account, and you add your website and everything, that makes Pinterest fully aware that you’re on the Platform for business.
That will help them to push your pins to more people, provided you’re pinning great content, and you’re consistent on the platform.
Create SEO Friendly board
Like I mentioned earlier, Pinterest is social media platform, but it also works like a search engine. So, you need to optimize your Pins so that people can search for them and find them.
People search for whatever they need on Pinterest. Therefore, if you want people to be able to find your Pins, you need to optimize them for search. And that starts with creating Pinterest boards that are SEO friendly.
Figure out the main keyword categories that people use to search for information in your niche, and create Pinterest boards using these main keywords.
Then you want to edit each board and add descriptions with SEO friendly keywords that describes what each board is all about.
So, if you have a board titled “Blogging Tips”, you want to have a description under it with keywords that tells the Pinterest SEO algorithm and people searching on Pinterest, that your board and the pins in there is all about blogging.
That will make it easier for Pinterest to rank the pins you post under that board, so that when people search for anything related to blogging, your pins under that board will show up.
Create Pinterest SEO friendly pins
You just don’t want to create SEO friendly boards, you also want to create SEO friendly, or SEO optimized pins.
This is very important. You want to make sure each pin you post has well optimized title and descriptions with keywords that describes what the pin is all about.
Add Hashtags
Hashtags are important on Pinterest. Under each pin description, add hashtags with keywords you believe people might use to search for your pin.
That will make it easier for Pinterest to recommend your pin to more people, hence driving more website traffic to your business.
Pin consistently
The thing about Pinterest is that, it’s not about the quantity of pins you post daily. It’s about how consistent you are.
You don’t want to pin today, and then stop pinning for the next 3 days, and then continue pinning the 4th day.
If you want to grow your website traffic using Pinterest, especially if your account is new with no followers yet, you want to pin consistently every day.
The more consistent you are the more you prove to the Pinterest algorithm, and to people on the platform that you mean business.
Before you know it, you’ll start getting more traffic from Pinterest, you’ll start gaining more followers and you’ll start growing rapidly on the platform.
