the subtle art of winning in life

Life is very simple. We’re the ones that sometimes take things too serious, too multi-dimensional, when most things are just straightforward.

In this article, I’m going to show you the subtle art of winning in life.

Anyone can win in life if they just learn what I’m about to share with you in this article.

It’s not difficult. It’s not hard. Although it may be difficult for some who are just too rigid to make changes in their life.

I learned all I’m about to share with you from the hundreds, maybe thousands of mistakes I’ve made trying to get the best out of my life.

It’s only fair and proper to learn this lessons as you go through life, because you don’t get too many chances in life. So, you’ve got to make sure you squeeze out every lesson life teaches you, and make sure you make use of them as you go on facing the next challenges you face.

So, the following are some of the lessons I’ve learnt from all I’ve faced in life, that will help you keep winning in life.

Stop trying to please other people

Living to please other people is the surest way to crashing down in life. No matter what you do, you’re never ever going to be able to please everybody.

If you please 10 people today, you’ll displease a thousand. If you please a thousand people tomorrow, you’ll displease a million.

There’s no way you’ll ever be able to please everybody. In fact, the more people you please, the more you tend to please other people, the more you displease yourself the more unhappy you become.

This is one of the most brutal lessons I’ve learned in my life.

Appreciate the simple things

It’s very rare to see young people, especially teenage ones, youth, appreciate the simplest things in life. Most of us always want the extravagant things.

We want the latest of everything.

That’s why everybody wants the new iPhone even though, they had the latest one not too long ago. Now, there is a new one, and so they’d do everything possible to get it.

It’s not as if they need it. It’s just because it’s the new iPhone.

I know a lot of people that live like that.

I was with a friend one day, and we were all having a conversation with another guy around. We were 3 there together there that day, and we were having a conversation about iPhones.

The guy said he’s already saving up for the latest iPhone that’s about to be released. I look in his hand, he already has the current latest iPhone.

So, I asked him what’s wrong with his present phone. He said nothing. He said he always wants to get the latest, hence before any new iPhone is released he saves months in advance so he can buy it immediately it’s released.

And didn’t say anything more, but I just shook my head a little.

This is his reality, and that’s the reality of most people in this present times. We always want to have the latest of everything. We buy things on impulse. Things we don’t need.

And they contribute nothing to our happiness.

I used to be like that. Recently though, after taking a serious look at everything, and after so many thought, I’ve realized that a simple life is the best type of life to live.

A life where you don’t worry about having the latest things. A life where you just get what you need and you don’t give a rat’s axx about what the media or the society or the culture around you, or your friend are encouraging you to get.

You’re just you and nothing else.

It’s the highest level of self awareness and self-love anyone can attain. It’s when you finally realize that you don’t need anybody’s approval to be happy.

You don’t need to live up to anyone’s expectations, but your own.

Live below your means

This is just like a continuation of the last point. Live below your means. There’s nothing amazing, there’s nothing special in having the latest things all the time.

Most people live above what they can afford.

They spend more than they can afford. And that leads them into debt.

You don’t have to live in a certain way just because your friends or your neighbours live that way. You don’t know how much they make.

It’s possible they make way more money than you. And you’re trying to live like them when you can’t live like them.

Try to always live below your means. Know your limitations. Know what you can afford and what you cannot afford.

If possible, try to save path of your pay check for the rainy day. The plan is to retire as early as possible, not work till old age.

When you live above your means, you’ll continue to work till you get old.

On the other hand, if you live below your means, and save/invest as much of your money as possible, you have enough money stored away to retire as early as possible.

Be a minimalist – Less is better

This is still buttressing the last 2 points. Be a minimalist. Less is better.

There was a day I walked into my living room, I looked at it, and it suddenly felt too crowded in my eyes. Even though I live alone, it felt as if there’re many people living with me in my home.

The furniture was too much. There were things I didn’t need that were just there staring at me.

So I did the right thing.

I started taking out some of the furniture I knew I didn’t really use, one by one. I took all of them to the storage room, and then rearranged the living room.

And instantly, everything looked much more better, clean and peaceful.

The living room became more spacious and it felt more peaceful to be there. And it was clear to me, the importance of being minimalistic. Less is always better.

Don’t buy things you don’t need. Don’t overcrowd your life.

This is the subtle art of winning in life.

Here are the points again:

Stop trying to please people. Live your own life.

Appreciate the simple things in life.

Live below your means.

And finally, be a minimalist. Less is always better.
