It’s the boring things that make you rich and wealthy.

Allow me to explain.

One thing I’ve learned from observing the rich and wealthy is that, whatever made them rich and wealthy, they’ve been doing it for a very long period of time.

The source of their wealth wasn’t established a year ago, 2 years ago, 3 years ago, No.

They’ve been doing what made them wealthy for an average of 10 years. They’ve kept at it, and have never backed down due to any kind of difficulty or challenge encountered.

To confirm what I am saying, let’s take a peak at some of the most successful and richest people in the world, and let’s look at how long they’ve been running their businesses.

Jeff Bezos – Amazon – 29 years

Elon Musk – Tesla – 20 years

Mark Zuckerberg – Facebook – 20 years

Bill Gates – Microsoft – 48 years

Larry Page – Google – 25 year

As you can see, the average number of years it took these people to make billions out of their business is over 20 years.

Was it all rosy from day one for them? Not at all. But they kept to it for years, through the difficult times, through the period when no one knew them, through the boring days of making barely enough for the business to survive.

They kept it going till they eventually succeeded and turned it into the billion dollar businesses we see today.

Some of them made money early enough. But did they make billions? hardly. They did not gain riches when they started. They might have made some money, but they did not become wealthy right off the bat.

It took 20 plus years.

And I’m sure that you’ll agree with me, that, no matter how good and satisfying your business or job is, it’s still a job. It requires time and effort, and when you do it every day, it becomes repetitious.

Repetitious things get boring and lacklustre no matter how fun they were when you started doing them.

No matter how hungry you are or how delicious a particular dish is, after eating to a particular extent, you eventually get filled and you get tired of eating.

You eat the same type of meal every day for a month, 2 months, 3 months, after some time, even the aroma of that food can cause you to puke.

Repetitious things get boring.
But in order for you to become really successful and attain wealth from any type of business, you need to spend years doing it. Repeating the same things day after day, becoming the best at them and mastering every aspect of that business.

Here’s why you make so much money and become wealthy as time goes on.

You become better at your business

When you do the same thing every day, you get good at it. You find more efficient ways to do it. You discover things you didn’t know the first time you started doing it, and you gain expertise.

That’s how it is with business. The longer the time and years you spend doing one particular business, not giving up on it, the better you become at that business.

Yes, you make mistakes, you’ll fail at times, but you’ll learn your lessons, and you’ll learn how to avoid making the same mistakes.

Over the years, you become a pro, you become an expert. You know what works, and what doesn’t work. You know what brings the money, and what’s just a waste of time.

Your customer base grows

The more time you spend on a particular business, the more people know you for that business and the more your customer base grows.

Imagine you start selling mattrasses today. You do it for 3 months and you quit just because you’re not making enough money. Then you go start another business where you sell furniture items. You do that for another 3 months and you quit again.

You keep moving from one business to the other. Your customer base will never grow because you keep moving from one business to the other.

People won’t know what to identify you with. You’re just a jack of all trades and a master of none.

You come up with new products for your audience

The more time you spend doing a particular business, the more you learn about your customers and their needs. And that will help you to come up with more products that will help you serve them better.

Amazon started with selling books. Just books and nothing else. Today, they sell almost anything you could think of.

That’s because the more time they spent building up Amazon, the more the learned about the needs of their customers, and the more solutions or products they came up with to solve those needs.

And the more products and solutions you come up with for your customers, the more money you stand to make, and the more wealthy you become.

You invest more money in the business

Every business requires a lot of money to grow. In fact, the more money you invest into a profitable business, the more profit you make from it. So, when you start making money from that business you’re running, as a smart business owner, you want to invest a lot of that profit back into the business.

That’s how you make more profit and become wealthy. One of the biggest mistakes you’ll make is to start spending money and living lavishly ones you start making some money from your business.

You have to feed the business else it will die. Take only what you need to keep yourself going at the very least, and invest the rest into your business.

That will help you grow the business faster, and increase your profit margin.

If there’s a formular to take you from just making money to becoming wealthy, that’s the formula. Take very little out of your business, and invest the rest back into the things that actually make you more money.

You grow your workforce

Once things start kicking off, you’re making profit and investing back in your business, the years are going by, you eventually get to a point where you need more people to handle the daily operations of your business.

The longer you run a business, it will grow, and when it grows, you need more people to keep it going. More people means more input, and more input means more output, and more output means more money, more profit.


The next time you thinking about quitting a business, a side hustle just after a month, 3 months, 6 months or even after a year, think about the wealthiest people in the world, and how long they’ve been running their business.

According to, Tesla spent 17 years unprofitable. Like 17 years. I’m not saying you should wait and stick to a business for 17 years, but that’s just shows you the mindset of the rich and wealthy.

The point is to not just give up after a few months just because you didn’t turn a dollar in.
Also, try to start businesses around what you believe in, around something you really could do for life.
17 years is not joke to wait for a business to turn profit, but that’s just how passionate Musk was to his venture. And eventually, it made him one of the wealthiest men in the world.

So, I say, if you devote your time to one business for a year, you’ll make money. Devote your time to one business for 10 years nonstop and you’ll become wealthy. You have to get good at doing the boring repetitious things to become wealthy.
