When you create a new blog or website, with a brand new domain and everything, nobody knows it. That means you have no people coming to visit it. You have no web traffic.
And without web traffic, your blog or website is worth nothing. Without web traffic, you won’t have any customers buying your products or taking action on your website, and you won’t make any money.
In fact, the amount of web traffic your blog or website gets is directly proportional to the amount of money it generates.
That’s why you want to try every means to get people to that your new blog or website as soon as possible. It’s what you want. You want web traffic, because you want to make money.
You want people to see what you’ve got going on your website. You want them to click that call to action button, opt into your email list and even buy that product you sell. And all that will only happen if you can get people through the gates of your blog or website.
So, here in this article, I’m going to show you 8 web traffic sources you must exploit if you want people to start visiting your new blog or website as soon as possible
Organic Search
Organic search web traffic is web traffic you get directly from search engines like Google and Bings, and it’s one of the most sought after web traffic ever because it converts the most.
People who find your website on Google and Bings didn’t just stumble upon it. They were searching for that particular thing or keyword your content is about. They were searching for that product you sell on your website.
That’s how they found your blog or website. So, these people buy what you sell pretty easily when they arrive on your website because they were already searching for that product that you offer.
So, the question is, how do you get search web traffic to your website?
Good search web traffic takes several months, maybe even years to build. You need a well-optimized website/blog to get it.
There are so many factors that determine how much search web traffic you get to your website. They’re so many.
However, there are a few thing you have to know and do right from the start if you want to give your site a better chance of getting search web traffic.
Rule number 1 – Never buy backlinks. You don’t need to buy backlinks to get search web traffic.
You just need to get your website content in order, and people will link to you naturally.
Nobody will link to you naturally at first when your site is new. But as time goes on, if your content is good, and you share it on social media regularly, people will find it and link to it.
If you want backlinks so much, a good way to get them is buy writing guest posts for closely related blogs.
Rule number 2 – Get your internal SEO in order. SEO is search engine optimization, and it’s divided into 2 parts. Internal and external SEO.
What you really have a major control over is the internal SEO of your website. You can’t really control whether people link to your website or not. But you can control the structure of the links inside your own site.
You can control how each content links to the other contents on your site. You have to have good internal SEO going on, on your website to have a very good chance of ranking in the search engines and getting web traffic from them.
When you have a good internal SEO structure going on, search engines easily understand what your website is about, and they’re able to position your site properly so that people find it.
Rule number 3 – Create webmaster properties for your website on Google and Bings and submit your sitemap to them.
As long as your website is online and visible to search engines, they’ll find it and index your content eventually. But you want to make it easier for Google and other search engines to find the content on your blog or website.
That’s why you create a webmaster property on Google and Bings. You verify that you’re the owner of your website, and you submit an XML sitemap that allows them to easily see the content of your website, and index every post or content you publish.
If you have a new website or blog, this is pretty straightforward to do. Just search YouTube for “Google Webmasters sitemap submission” and you’ll find several videos that will show you exactly how to do it.
Once you’ve submitted your sitemap, you have good on-page or internal SEO going on, on your website, and you don’t buy irrelevant backlinks to your website, your website will start ranking as time goes on, and you’ll start getting search web traffic to it.
Pinterest is classified as a social media network, but it works just like a search engine. In fact it’s a search engine for images.
The way it works is, you go on it, and you create boards where you pin images around the web that you like.
Even if you don’t pin images from around the web, inside Pinterest you’ll find images related to different topics that you can pin in your boards and visit later.
As a blogger, you just need to create a Pinterest business account, and you create image pins for each blog post you create, then pin them on relevant boards on Pinterest.
You have to create boards for each topic category you write about on your blog. Say your blog is about pets, you can create boards for cats, dogs, dog training, dog grooming pet food, cat foods, cat training and so on.
And then each posts you create under these categories are pinned with images under the same boards on your Pinterest account.
It might take some time, but as long as you do it, people will start finding these pins and clicking through to your website.
On my other website where I used Pinterest to promote for some time, I used to get from 300 to 400 visits a day from Pinterest. And I didn’t even pin for a long time on Pinterest.
So, Pinterest is another medium you can use to get web traffic to your new blog or website. (Here’s my Pinterest in case you want to follow)
Quora
Quora is another huge traffic source you don’t want to ignore. Quora is a question and answer website.
You just visit the website, create an account, choose your interests, and you’ll just see questions and answers about your chosen interests everywhere on the site.
Now, if you see questions you have an answer to, you can just answer the question, and it will be added to the site immediately. Other people will see your answer and they can upvote your answer and even follow you if they want.
You can even include links to your blog or website in your answer.
Quora is very huge. According to Wikipedia, it’s even among the top 50 most visited websites in the world. Everybody goes there.
You can ask your own questions, and you can answer questions from other people.
So, all you need to do is just follow topics in your niche, and answer questions people ask about these topics. People will upvote your answers, they’ll follow you on the platform, and if you have links to your blog or website in your answers, they’ll click through to it.
X web traffic
X formerly known as Twitter is a social media platform. If you already use X, you know what it is.
You create an account, follow people, interact with them, and you build your own account as well by tweeting or posting what you like.
As a writer or blogger, you can use X to drive web traffic to your blog or website. You just have to keep posting about whatever you do on your blog on X as well.
And you have a link of your blog on your X profile. The more people follow you and see your posts, the more they’ll click over to your profile and visit your site.
Facebook Page
Facebook is another social media platform just like X. I believe most people are familiar with Facebook.
I believe it’s either the 3rd or 4th most visited website in the whole world. Now to use Facebook to drive web traffic to your blog, all you have to do is create a Facebook page about your blog.
Fill out your bio to include your website and what that page is all about. Then just post about post the same thing you do on your blog.
Write about what you do. Make sure your website link is in the bio. And sometimes include a link to your blog posts in the posts you make on the page.
The more the page grows, the more web traffic it sends to your blog.
Facebook Groups
Facebook groups are another valuable source of web traffic for a new blog. You can either create your own group if you already have an audience ready to go, or you can join other Facebook groups in your niche and start posting your content there.
As a new writer or blogger, you obviously have no audience reading your content yet. So, at first, you just need to join established groups in your niche, and post your content there.
Make sure to follow the group rules though. Don’t just post links to your blog post. Post valuable content.
Join groups with your page name and post as your page. When you make these value posts, people will follow your page from these groups, and the more your page grows, the more web traffic you drive to your website or blog.
Guest Posts
Guest posting simply means creating a blog post and posting it on another blog that’s related to yours. You just look for other bloggers that post the same kind of content or content related to yours, and ask them if you can write a post for them.
If they accept your offer, you write the post which includes a link to your own blog, and you send it to them.
If they like it, they’ll publish it on their blog. When they publish it, their audience reads it and some of them will click through to your blog or website in that post.
Apart from the direct web traffic you get from that post to your own blog or website, you also get a valuable backlink to your website which increases domain authority and helps it rank in search engines.
It’s not easy to get accepted to write guest posts on already established blogs, but when you get accepted, it’s always worth it.
So if you’re a new blogger, search google for established blogs in your niche that have good web traffic and domain authority, email them and ask them if you can write a free post for them.
Some will accept your offer, some will ask for money, others will reject your offer, while some will not even reply you. It doesn’t matter. Just keep searching for opportunities to guest post on other blogs.
The more you post, the more you grow your blog authority, and the more web traffic you drive to it.
YouTube
YouTube is another huge source of blog web traffic. Most YouTubers also have blogs, and some bloggers have YouTube channels as well.
If you’re big on YouTube, you can always link to your blog posts in the description of each YouTube video. Trust me, most people that watch YouTube videos read the description and click those links there.
And you can use that as a web traffic source for your blog or website.
Instagram is another huge web traffic source for blogs and websites. Grow your Instagram page. Include your link in the bio, and that will help direct people to your site.
TikTok
TikTok is another huge source of blog web traffic. If you can make short videos about what you blog about, post them on TikTok, grow your following, you can drive a large amount of web traffic to your blog through TikTok.
You just got to learn how to make these viral short videos.
Even if you don’t make short videos, you can cut short excepts from your long videos and post them on your TikTok.
Conclusion
These are all important ways and platforms you can use to drive traffic to your website. Trust me there are more ways and platforms you can use. I’m sure I’ve missed some that you know yourself.
