Maybe one of the reasons why no one is clicking your Pinterest pins, re-pinning or saving them is simply because they are just too darn ugly.

That’s not joke.

Trust me, I browse through Pinterest daily. I browse through for several reasons. One is because I love the platform. You find ideas about whatever you want to do in life.

Ideas are abundant. You want to renovate your home, use Pinterest to find ideas. You want to look for clothing or fashion styles, the platform got you. You looking for life advice, motivation and so on, you’ll find it there.

The second reason why I browse through Pinterest daily is because I’m a marketer and a blogger. I use the platform to promote my business. And while doing so, I come across many other bloggers who use the platform to promote and drive traffic to their blog and businesses.

When I come across some Pinterest pins posted by some bloggers, even though I may love what the pin is about, I don’t save it into my own Pinterest boards.

Why? Because the pin is just too darn ugly. It does not rhyme with the theme of my Pinterest account. It doesn’t rhyme with my style, and I wouldn’t want to have that spoil the mood I’ve created in my account. So, I don’t save it.

Call me petty, but I refuse to pin ugly pins.

At other times, I come across certain Pinterest pins, and even though I may not really like the content of the pin, I save them right away because of the pin design. Because it’s just too beautiful to not have the chance to see it again.

So, I just pin it so I can see it again.

I save it because I love the style of the pin, and would love to be able to look at it again, and maybe employ that style in my own pins, in my own marketing.

Ugly Pinteret pins will ruin your Pinterest marketing strategy. Trust me.

The better looking a pin is, the better it will perform on Pinterest.

So, what should you do to design better looking Pinterest pins? Well, here are some simple tips that will help you design good-looking pins that other bloggers would hurry to save into their accounts.

I mean, here’s what you may be doing wrong.

Simple is better – Embrace minimalism

If a pin is too busy, it’s ugly. Stop trying to fit all the design elements you find on Canva into your pin.

Simply add the title of the pin, which is the blog post title, add a fitting image. Style the font a bit, and you’re done.

Stop cramming in more unnecessary elements. You don’t need all of that.

Don’t add unnecessary design elements.

5 Tips To Help You Stop Designing Ugly Pinterest Pins

Don’t use fancy fonts that are difficult to read

One of the worst ways you can harm your pin is to use fancy unreadable fonts. You don’t need no fancy fonts.

Pinterest users are not going to admire how fancy your pin font is. If they can’t read it, they won’t save it.

Stop using fancy unreadable fonts. Just use simple fonts that are very easy to read. And make sure you don’t make them too small.

Same thing applies if you use simple fonts but you make them too small. You don’t want a font size that can only be read under a magnifying glass.

You don’t have to enlarge your font all over the page, but just make them a reasonable size and make sure they’re not some fancy stuff no one gives a fxck about.

Color is all over the place

Too much color can also make your Pinterest pin to be too busy. If you’re using a dark pin background, then use light color fonts.

If you’re using a light color background, then use dark fonts so people can differentiate between your pin background and the text on the pin.

If you’re not an artist trying to show some never-before-seen design stuff you just created, don’t just splash color all over the place in your pin.

Like I mentioned earlier, the simpler the better. Simple is gold.

Choose fitting images

Try as much as possible to use images that fit what your pin is about. I’m not saying you should spend hours looking for the right image to use for a Pinterest pin.

But at least, try to use the right image for your pins. If you’re using Canva to design your pins, there are millions of images are design elements in there. I’m sure you would be able to find the right image for whatever your pin is about.

Get inspired by Pinterest accounts you admire

Like I mentioned in the introduction of this post, when I see a good-looking pin design on Pinterest, even though I may not like what the pin is about, I save it for later because I’m a blogger and a marketer.

I save it so I can use it as inspiration when designing my own pins.

So, while going through Pinterest, follow accounts you admire. Get inspired by how they design their pins.

Don’t just outrightly copy the exact design they have. But use their design as inspiration to design your own pins.

Rounding Up

Pinterest is a very good platform you can use to drive traffic to your blog, and to your business website.

And sometimes, the difference between success and failure on the platform boils down to your Pinterest pin designs.

Use the tips above. Create good-looking pins. Stop creating ugly pins on Canva.
