If you’re just starting out as a blogger or content creator, one of the first things you’ll struggle with is getting traffic to your content.

It’s getting people to see your content and read it, if it’s a blog post or watch it if it’s a video.

This is a very big issue for new bloggers and content creators. Trust me, if you’ve ever created content before, you’ll know this.

It’s difficult to get people to consume your content when you’re just starting out.

There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, and most importantly, the algorithms of the different platforms you’re posting to are not familiar with your content yet.

So, when you hit publish, they don’t know the group of people to promote your content to. Hence, the slowly push it out until they find your target audience, and then they keep pushing it to this type of audience.

Here’s another reason. Since you’re a new creator, the algorithms don’t really take your content that serious. They don’t know if you’re just posting once and will never post again, or whether you’ll stay consistent and keep posting.

They don’t give you that preferential treatment established creators get, due to the fact that they’ve earned their stripes, and have been consistent creators. Their audience is known, and they’ve even built a solid following.

Here’s one more reason. Guess what? You’re a new blogger, you’re a new YouTuber, you’re a new creator. Nobody knows you yet.

So, when people see your content, your name or face doesn’t ring a bell, so they don’t click.

All these reasons make it hard for new bloggers and creators to get traffic to their content.

But, you shouldn’t lament though. If you’re a new creator currently facing this challenge, don’t fret.

There are certain traffic sources that are not particularly harsh towards new creators, which you can take advantage of, so you can get eyeballs on your content as soon as possible.

Here are some of the best ones.

Pinterest

I believe Pinterest is by far the best traffic source for new bloggers and content creators. If you just started a new blog, you can use Pinterest to drive a ton of traffic to it.

You just need to learn the right Pinterest strategy for pinning. You need to learn what type of pins to pin on Pinterest, how to pin, when to pin, how to set up your account, Pinterest SEO and so on.

Learn the right Pinterest strategy, and you’ll be able to drive an insane amount of traffic to your content, even though you’re just starting out as a creator.

Quora

Quora is another huge traffic source you can exploit to drive traffic to your content as a new blogger or creator.

As you may already know, Quora is a question and answer platform. People ask questions on the platform and other people answer the questions.

It’s a very huge platform right now. In fact, it’s among the most popular websites on the internet right now, with millions of daily/monthly users.

All you have to do is visit Quora daily and answer a bunch of questions related to your niche.

The beautiful thing about Quora is that you can insert links in your answers. So, whenever you answer a question, you can add a relevant link to directs people to your own content.

Notice the word “relevant” I used. Insert a relevant link. Don’t just go spamming Quora with a bunch of links.

Apart from the platform flagging your account, nobody’s going to visit those links because they’re not relevant. And you’re going to create a bad reputation for yourself on the platform when you do that.

I’m sure you don’t want that. Slow and steady wins the race. Answer questions from your heart. Be ready to help. Build an audience on the platform. And when it’s relevant, insert your blog links in your answers, if they’ll help the reader gain more insight on the question you’re answering.

X

X formerly known as Twitter is another great platform you can use to drive traffic to your content as a new blogger.

X is a social media platform, so it really revolves around interacting with other users, making friends, building an audience and creating a certain persona about who you are.

Building on X requires time though. You may not be able to drive a huge amount of traffic from X immediately, but if you’re engaging enough on the platform, you’ll drive some traffic to your content.

You do that by engaging posts from popular accounts. My account is pretty new but I remember a certain day I engaged with one post from a certain large account. That day, I ended up getting about 40+ new visits to my blog, all from that post.

It was amazing.

40 visits doesn’t sound like much, but it’s something for a new blog. You build from there. Engage more, grow your audience. And before you know it, you’ll be getting tons of traffic from these platforms regularly, on a daily basis.
